Looking for an opportunity to dig deeper into camp life?
Learn about and serve in camp ministry through one of our full time, paid internships.

What is it?

Camp Westminster’s internship program is designed to expose young adults to the many facets of Christian camp ministry, while encouraging them in their walk with Christ through mentoring and discipleship.

Camp Westminster offers full time, paid internships that cover 15 months and start in mid May.

Participants will serve in all departments that exist at Camp Westminster in order to gain an understanding of the full camp ministry experience.

Program and Guest Services Internship

The Program and Guest Services Intern gets to experience camp ministry from both the summer camp and year-round retreats perspectives. The intern should be creative, hard-working, and provide high quality customer service.

As Program and Guest Services Intern,

you will be responsible for:

• Hosting weekday and weekend retreat groups
• Preparing and cleaning facilities for retreat group arrivals
• Assisting with planning for annual retreats
• Brainstorming new program ideas
• Assisting in developing summer camp activity curriculum
• Managing/overseeing designated summer camp programs

During summer camp, the Program and Guest Services Intern uses their creativity to design and execute fun and engaging summer camp curriculum and activities for campers ages 6-16. The intern must be able to manage and support program counselors in the design and implementation of their activity curriculum, and in the planning of special weekly events for campers.

For retreats, the Program and Guest Services Intern should possess excellent customer service skills when communicating with retreat groups and serving their needs. The intern should also have a high attention to detail when preparing the facilities for a retreat group's arrival. The intern will also be responsible for hiring seasonal staff to run activities for retreat groups.

The Program and Guest Services Internship is about sharing Christ's love through the use of creative talents and ideas and high-quality, respectful customer service. On the Guest Services side, the intern may be one of the only staff members the group interacts with during their stay. It is crucial that these interactions embody Camp's mission to spread the Gospel through providing an exceptional retreat experience. On the Program side, the intern uses their creativity and fun to plan and direct exciting activities for campers, allowing them to have an amazing camp experience in God's creation.

Facilities and Maintenance Internship

The Facilities and Maintenance Internship is an opportunity to see Camp "behind the scenes" and learn about what it takes to make Camp run successfully. The Facilities and Maintenance Intern should be hard-working, have a willingness to learn new skills, and have a desire to work outdoors.

As Facilities and Maintenance Intern, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting Director of Operations with maintaining the buildings and grounds
• Performing preventative maintenance on all camp equipment
• Preparing and cleaning facilities for retreat group arrivals
• Helping plan and implement work projects around Camp
• Managing the summer work crew during summer camp

During the year, the Facilities and Maintenance Intern will have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to run a summer camp and retreat center. The intern will work alongside the Director of Operations and others, assisting with various maintenance and improvement projects around Camp.

During summer camp, the Facilities and Maintenance Intern will use the skills they have learned to lead a seasonal team of Work Crew in the daily maintenance and running of summer camp. This includes set up and tear down of activity equipment, ensuring that all activities have adequate water, and some kitchen duties.

The Facilities and Maintenance Internship is about practical, biblical service. The intern is asked to work hard on projects that may seem to go unseen by the campers and retreat groups that Camp serves, but the work done by the Facilities and Maintenance Intern is vital for the upkeep and operation of Camp Westminster.
