Can I get a copy of the Parent Handbook Online?
Yes, The Parent Handbook is available as an Acrobat PDF file.
Click Here to view online or download. Adobe Acrobat
Reader is required to view it. This booklet provides information on how to get here, what to bring and
what not to bring, camp policies, activities, pickup & drop off procedures, and some history of the camp.
Some of the more common questions and answers are listed below.
Who can attend Camp Westminster?
Anyone can attend, within the age requirements of a particular
session. We are a non-denominational Christian Camp that welcomes all believers and non-believers.
How many campers come to a session?
When full, we have 160 campers per session.
How many campers are there in each cabin?
There are up to, but not more than 10 campers, and at
least two counselors in each cabin.
What is the counselor ratio?
At least one counselor for every 4 campers. And on
average we have one counselor to every 3 campers.
Where do we get our staff?
Our staff consists of college students and a few
high school juniors and seniors. We recruit from Christian colleges and
Churches, but many of our staff come by referral from campers, existing
staff, and alumnae. All of our staff completes a minimum 11-day staff
training requirement prior to each camping season.
Is there a nurse?
We will always have a nurse on the
premises. In case of emergencies, Rockdale county hospital is
less than 5 miles away.
What if my child gets sick and needs to see a doctor?
Our insurance does not permit us to transport
your child to the doctor. You, or someone you know will need to pick them
up and take them to your physician. Or, if you prefer, we have a doctor
who will come to see you. If the doctor says it is okay for your child
to return to camp, we would love to have him/her back.
Will my child be able to be with his friend?
Yes, but make sure you indicate
this on the registration form. Waiting until you get to camp
to ask to for a particular cabin buddy might be too late.
What activities are available at Camp Westminster?
The activities include: sports (soccer,
volleyball, basketball, baseball, and other team/field games), horseback
riding, swimming, canoeing, fishing, arts & crafts, dance, drama, news
paper, cooking, music, sign language, ropes courses (climbing tower and
high & low ropes courses), paintball (for campers 10 and up), and much
more. Campers will sign up for their activities on Sundays after supper.
Each day is divided into five 1½-hour activity periods in all sessions
except Horsemanship and Challenger.
Besides activities, what else do campers do?
Each morning after breakfast, campers attend a
Bible study in their cabin. They have two activity periods, lunch, a 45-minute
rest period, three more activity periods, supper, an all-camp activity, and then
canteen. Each day ends with a Vespers which includes camp singing, Bible songs,
and a brief message from the staff. Then it's back to the cabins for a short
cabin devotion, showers, and bed time.
